revolution

Woke up early on a Sunday morning, and headed down to the local Target at 8am to get a little shopping done. I heard tell that they were getting a stack of Wii in today, and I got me one. There were a couple other nerds milling around outside the door, waiting for them to turn the lights on, but there wasn’t a line or anything, which was good, because I ain’t waiting in no line. Show up, get in, get my junk, get out. Done.

Unfortunately, because I’m a “grown up” or something, I’ve got to get about six hours of work done today, and attend a backyard gospel brunch with Jerm and the McMercy Family Gospel Band, before I can really fire it up. And I’ve probably gotta be quiet while I’m doing it, on account of baby sleepiness and whatnot. And I’m probably going to need a nap, because screw this 8am crap. Zzz.

Oh! And I discovered last night that, since the Guitar Hero 2 controller for the Xbox 360 is just a plain old USB device, you can just plug it in to your Windows laptop, and it will automatically recognize it and your axe will show up as a game controller. I played around with it a bit, fooling with the control panel and trying it out with Frets on Fire and whatnot, but was disappointed when I learned that Flash won’t recognize events from game controllers. I’m going to have to either write some kind of wrapper in C++ or something that’ll catch those events and pass them through to an embedded flash player, or, more likely, find one of those automagic executable generator thingy that already exists for Flash, and see if they can do it for me. Either way, fun.
